Battle of the unibrow

Machida

vs.

Shogun.

Machida has a more obvious and thick unibrow and on that premise, he will win. These guys obviously don't care about their unibrows - they are too focused on fighting, which is why I think it'll make a GREAT fight. Maybe they get their powers from their unibrows... either way, I'm expecting 5 rounds of action. I think you will see everything from standup, takedowns to amazing ground and pound. In the end though, considering the style matchup, I think Machida will win it. Shogun is typically very aggressive, which will just work against him, since Machida is such an effective counter striker. He'll back off from Shogun's attacks and pick him apart.
Either way, in terms of my preference I could care less who wins this, I like both fighters.

Overeem vs. Thompson at Dream 12 this SAT.

It's about time we see Overeem back in the ring.. since he broke his hand beating up FIVE bouncers. I think he's going to come back and RIP Thompson apart. By the way.. yep, that's the same Thompson that Kimbo fought on that Strikeforce card way back. Hopefully his ear has healed up... but either way, Overeem is going to smash him without any problem.
In addition to this, you've got Sakuraba fighting, Eddie Alvarez AND Marius... man this card is turning out to be VERY good. Even better than a lot of UFC cards I've seen.

GOMI is back!

Gomi will be fighting on Oct. 30th. Gomi is always an exciting fighter to watch. Gomi has notable wins over Pulver, basically ALL chute boxe fighters in his weight class (rofl), Duane Ludwig and Sakurai. He's fought Penn and other well known fighters as well. His opponent is Hervey, a belt holder in another organization. I'm a fan of japanese fighters and I know many of you guys aren't even familiar with these fighters, but it's DEFINITELY worth checking him out if you don't know him already. Go Gomi!

Eddie Alvarez vs. Katsunori Kikuno

For those of you that are not familiar with Eddie Alvarez.. he is one tough dude. Sherdog has him as the #3 LW and although that may be disputable, you cannot argue that he hits HARD. Additionally, it's amazing how he's developed a ground game too, I look forward to this fight. I am not familiar with Kikuno, but I'd still give this fight to Alvarez. Watch out for this fight on Oct 25 on Dream's first CAGE fight promotion.
My man MARIUS will be fighting on this card too. I'll be making a post in the future with regards to the whitemare.

Pat Barry vs. Hardonk at 104

I'm super hyped about this fight. I'll admit I haven't always been a follower of Barry, but I've been looking at some of his clips in K1 and his mma fights and DAMN this guy's striking is unbelievable. I mean even in his loss to Hague his striking was so accurate and damaging, it's just unfortunate he got a little hasty. Hopefully he can work on his take down defense and submission defense because his striking is so nasty.
As for the fight.. I'm sure you can tell who I think is going to be winning after reading the paragraph above. Yeah.. Barry by TKO in the 1st. Hardonk's kicks are good, but they are NO where near as explosive as Barry's and not to mention Barry's hands are considerably better then Hardonk's. However, there is the threat of submission by Hardonk, but I doubt that'll happen. Barry is going to be patient and outstrike him and damage him with his hands. Hardonk is more a "wear-down" kind of striker wear his kicks will hurt you over the fight such that you'll lose speed and power then he can move in... but that's not going to happen.
Go Barry!

Junie Browning tries to kill himself..

Does this surprise anyone? I mean I'm sure his antics somewhat have reflected a suicidal attitude. This is horrible for MMA, especially since it just reinforces the fact that freaks or mentally unstable people compete in it. I hate when people say that, sure it's true, you get those people who have been bullied their whole life or have a history of abuse, but the BEST fighters are those that embrace martial arts for what it is.. an art. So when someone tells me that, I just say, look at Machida.. a man who's a perfect example of someone who's one of the BEST and his life is martial arts and sure as hell wasn't one of those troubled youth - he grew up in a household with discipline and honor.

Do the stanky leg.

For those of you that have seen that Mike Tyson documentary, he mentions that Gus goes on about the importance of having character as a fighter, and how all champions have character. Rampage (when he was a champion) is a great example, sure he's not a good coach, but you can't deny that he's a good fighter. Character is something he definitely does not lack! From today's talk about how he wants to punch Evans' head in and kick him in the nuts after to making Kimbo do the stanky leg (who the HELL aside from Rampage could get Kimbo to do that), he's always got character. Regardless of whether he's fighting or not, I'll always enjoy his antics and say what you want about him leaving, he's only doing what anyone else in his position would of done.

TUF 10

Anyone that expected Kimbo to fight this last episode should be slapped. Obviously all hype in efforts to keep the ratings up. Honestly, I was expecting Kimbo to fight the LAST fight of the prelims just to ensure that fans kept watching. I figured that Dana would have discussed this with both Rashad and Rampage and maybe slipped them some money to ensure that he fought last or close to last. I mean.. imagine if he fought the FIRST fight. Would you be watching any of it? I doubt he's going to fight again before the finale.

Sudo.

Check out clips of this guy's fights, it's worth it.

Mousasi fighting on Strikeforce card with Fedor and Rogers.

Oh man this card is turning out to be pretty sick. Fedor AND Mousasi fighting. Sure the caliber of the opponents may be questionable, but it's always a treat to watch these guys fight, especially Fedor since he fights like once every 2 years. Unfortunately the opponent has not been determined yet, however people are saying it is likely Sokordju that same big nigerian that the babalu that Mousasi murdered last fight easily handled. Mousasi has handled big guys too.. like Hunt and Manheof, so I say he takes this if that fight were to unfold.

Greg Jackson's camp.

Honestly everyone is hyping Jackson's camp WAY TOO MUCH, it's a typical case of misplaced credit being given. OK firstly, random kids don't join this camp, it's only already established fighters. SECONDLY, aside from GSP and the occasional Evans and Jardine win.. when has their camp been extremely successful say as chute boxe. This is BS, I'm sick of all this hype over Jackson's camp and his amazing strategies. Jardine and Evans beat a Liddell that had his jaw loosened up by Rampage. And all GSP does is take guys down. Yeah, tell me I'm wrong.

Moves that I learned from a game cock..

Did you jerks know that Roy Jones took some of his moves from game cocks that his dad used to own? That's almost like other forms of martial arts that base their techniques on the movements of animals. I tried dropping my hands in sparring a while back and being like roy jones, frigging got decked. Lesson learned. Be like the turtle and protect yourself at all times.

UFC 105 for free!

UFC 105 is for free. But don't get too excited.. the card isn't too exceptional. A bunch of UK'ers and you've got Couture vs. Vera and Swick vs. Hardy (another UK'er). All the UK wankers will be going nuts over their fighters, seeing as they placed their Ultimate fighter season winners against sub-par fighters in efforts to hand them a freebie.
Personally, I could give a crap about any of these fights. Couture is done... hoping to make a last ditched effort in the LHW division since Liddell's out of the picture, and Vera is done ever since he was making 200gs a fight he got complacent.
But, you'll still find me glued to the TV that night.
So come back here for the predictions closer up to the fight.

Aoki beats Hansen!

I don't know about you guys, but I'm always impressed with Aoki's ability on the ground. His technique is amazing but sometimes it looks like he's still not used to getting hit. Sherdog has him ranked as number 2 lightweight.. I still don't know if that's reasonable, I mean he's fought a lot of fights, has a good record, had some fights with decent fighters.. but he's stil lacking those big fights against the big names. He NEEDS to get to the ufc to move up. I doubt that'll happen considering he's probably a god there.
